They say that smells unlock our memories and I tend to agree. Whenever I smell the aroma of fresh bread cooking, I can’t help but be transported back to my childhood when I used to sit in my Aunt’s kitchen and watch her kneading loaves reading to bake in the oven. Even now, so many years later, that beautiful smell takes me right back to 5 years of age, when I would sit on her kitchen table and drink orange juice out of a pink plastic cup while watching her mixing, stirring and cooking.
Maybe those happy memories hold the key to why I love bread so much. There’s nothing I love more than baking my own loaves and serving them to my nearest and dearest. Of course, that all became a lot easier when I invested in a bread maker. I used to make loaves in my oven, but that was a lot of hassle with all of the kneading and waiting for the dough to rise and then kneading some more. When I got a bread maker, all of that was in the past. All I had to do was pop a few ingredients into the pan, switch it on, and then smell the delightful aroma as I waited for the bread to rise and cook to perfection. Whatever type of loaf I was making, I could guarantee that the results would be perfect and the diners would be delighted.
Sadly, my bread maker is a little past its prime. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s well past it. It no longer stirs the mix properly so that my loaves have become a lopsided shape and sometimes the dough doesn’t cook properly. It’s time to get a new one.
Unfortunately, it’s been so long since I bought a bread maker that I’m not sure what I’m looking for anymore, so I’ve had to go online and check out sites like bestkitchen.pro to find out which are the best bread makers on the market today.
Finding the best equipment for the home isn’t always easy. In fact, it can be a real challenge to find kitchen appliances that really get the job done for a price that I can afford. However, finally I came up with two bread makers that are highly rated for their impressive results, so I’m trying to decide between them.
T-fal PF311E ActiBread
This affordable bread machine has outstanding features for its price range and is a very consistent performer, baking, proofing and kneading evenly. Easy to use, and impressively versatile, it allows users to make three different loaf sizes and also offers a number of mode types to suit all recipes and needs. Although it isn’t the most customizable option on the market, it can do all kinds of unusual things such as making jam or pasta! It’s also perfect for those who can’t eat gluten since it has several options suited to those who have to adhere to this type of diet. There are several darkening settings and there are no paddle issues reported for this model, and it is also very easy to remove. The pan is non-stick and the handle allows for easy removal of loaves while the timer allows you to have a fresh loaf for breakfast every day. The window in the top loading door allows users to see how well their bread is cooking and the loaf will stay warm for as long as an hour after it is ready. On the downside, the T-Fal produces quite hard and thick crusts, especially on higher settings and the gluten free loaves can only be prepared in the 2lb loaf version.
Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Home Bakery
This impressive model may only make 1lb loaves, however, its performance is of the highest standard. Compact and easy to fit on even the smallest countertop, this machine even features a small carrying handle allowing it to be moved easily around your kitchen. Ideal for singles and couples, this machine is perfect for producing bread for toasting and thanks to its delay timer, you can wake up to fresh bread. This mixer can also be used to make pizza dough or other baked goods as well as jam.
With even kneading and baking, this device produces great results and can prepare bread in as little as 2 hours. Its nonstick pan and paddle make cleaning a breeze while the LCD panel is easy to use. On the downside, this model has less adjustable modes and settings than the T-Fal and it can only make small loaves, and this means that converting most recipes is necessary. Unfortunately, this isn’t the most attractive appliance either, and with it older control panel, it will look a little bit out of place in my kitchen.
In the end, I’ve decided on the T-Fal device. If you want to find out more about the different bread machines on the market click on this link, and find the right ones for you.
